Over the weekend 8 – 9 November, four matches for The 132nd Argentine Open were played. On Saturday 8 November, recent winners of The Hurlingham and Tortugas Opens, La Natividad La Dolfina, played their first Argentine Open match and started their path towards securing the Triple Crown title. The Triple Crown has not been claimed for 10 years when La Dolfina (Adolfo Cambiaso, Pelón Stirling, Pablo MacDonough and Juan Martín Nero) last secured the title in 2015. La Natividad La Dolfina faced La Zeta Kazak, who had already lost their debut match to UAE, with 2015 team mates Pelón Stirling and Adolfo Cambiaso lining up on opposing sides. La Natividad La Dolfina were merciless and by half-time had secured a 12-3 lead which they increased to 22-11 by the end of the match. The second match of the day was between Sol de Agosto and UAE, with both sides looking for their second consecutive win as well as a clash between the Panelo brothers with Tomás playing for UAE and Benjamin playing for Sol de Agosto. The first half was hard fought, with the scores tied at 6-6 at half-time; however, UAE took charge in the second half and secured a convincing 16-10 win.
The following day, Sunday 9 November, began with La Irenita La Hache vs La Dolfina II. La Irenita La Hache, whose last Triple Crown win was in September in The Hurlingham open, needed a win to keep their hopes alive and from the start displayed confident and strong polo, with Hilario Ulloa accurate penalty taking contributing to the overall win of 23-13. The last match of the weekend was played between Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu and La Hache Cría & Polo, with both teams unbeaten. After three even opening chukkas Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu took control and by half-time had secured an 11-7 lead which ultimately resulted in a 21-10 victory.
The 132nd Argentine Open action resumes this weekend, 15 – 16 November, with four more matches:
Saturday 15 November: Sol de Agosto vs La Zeta Kazak & La Natividad La Dolfina vs Los Machitos
Sunday 16 November: La Hache Cría & Polo vs La Dolfina II & La Hache La Irenita vs La Ensenada
