FIP announces teams for Snow Polo World Cup

Twelve teams will take part in the World Cup at Tianjin in China later this month

THE TEAM LINE-UPS have been announced for the FIP Snow Polo World Cup in China, which begins on 25 January.

The England team will be made up of George Meyrick (5), Max Routledge (5) and James Harper (6). They will face New Zealand and the USA in the group stages of the 16-goal tournament.

The defending champions, Hong Kong, will field the same line-up in 2013 as last year, featuring British ex-pat John Fisher (4) and Argentines Martin Inchauspe (5) and Guillermo Terrera (7). Hong Kong defeated South Africa in the 2012 final.

Teams from France, Chile, Brazil, India, Australia, South Africa, Canada and Argentina will also take part.

The World Cup will get underway on 25 January, with group matches being played until 28 January to determine the quarter-finalists. The final will take place on 3 February. The tournament will be hosted by Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club in Tianjin for the third year.
