La Dolfina & Valiente Reach US Open Final

Cambiasos will do battle once again

Following the gripping Femi Finals of The US Open Polo Championship on Wednesday 17 April at the National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida, La Dolfina and Valiente have emerged as the contenders for the championship title in the most prestigious tournament in the United States. This sets the stage for an electrifying showdown between father and son for the third consecutive time: Adolfo Cambiaso of Valiente and Poroto Cambiaso of La Dolfina. The 2024 Gauntlet of Polo has undeniably become a family affair and one thing is certain amidst this familial rivalry – regardless of the outcome, the coveted silver cup of the US Open will find its way to Cañuelas. Valiente will be returning to The US Open Polo Championship Final eager to avenge their 2023 Final loss against Park Place, with Adolfo Cambiaso looking for his tenth title in this tournament.

In Wednesday’s first Semi Final, La Dolfina secured a hard-fought victory over Coca Cola with a score of 13-11. La Dolfina had previously beaten Coca Cola during the league stage on 31 March. In the subsequent match, Valiente emerged victorious over Pilot with a score of 9-6. Despite a relatively low goal count, Valiente dominated both the match and the scoreboard throughout the six chukkas of play.

Both La Dolfina and Valiente have already clinched victories in other Gauntlet of Polo tournaments, with Valiente triumphing in The C.V. Whitney Cup and La Dolfina, competing as La Dolfina Tonkawa, seizing The USPA Gold Cup, so there is all to play for this Sunday, 21 April.

The US Open Polo Championship Final Teams:

Valiente (22): Joaquín Vilgré Lamadrid (0), Peke González (7), Paco de Narvaez (5) & Adolfo Cambiaso (10)

La Dolfina (22): Alejandro Aznar (0), Rufino Merlos (3), Poroto Cambiaso (10) & Tomás Panelo (9)
