On Friday 5 April, Coca Cola secured their first win of the tournament with a narrow 10-9 score against Clearwater who have now lost all three of their games. Gillian Johnston’s Coca Cola took control in the initial half, establishing a commanding 7-0 lead by half-time. Despite Clearwater's gradual resurgence from the fourth chukka onwards, Coca Cola maintained a steady lead, even as Clearwater managed to score a few goals. However, in a tense final chukka, Clearwater exerted pressure on their opponents and outscored them 3-0. Yet, their efforts were in vain as Coca Cola emerged victorious at the end of the match. The action continued on Sunday 7 April with Tamera’s first win in this year’s US Open Polo Championship too, narrowly outscoring La Fe 12-11. Today, Monday 8 April, will see Valiente (who have two wins and no losses so far) face Dutta Corp who had a wobbly opening match but regained confidence in their 18-7 score against Dutta Corp earlier in the tournament.
