Mon 16th Aug 2021Talacrest Prince of Wales Day 7Park Place secure spot in Final
Yesterday, Sunday 15 August, Park Place secured their place in the inaugural Talacrest Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup Final, maintaining their unbeaten record through the four league matches. The results from Wednesday’s matches between Bardon Polo Team vs Vikings and Monterosso vs UAE Polo Team will decide the remaining finalist. Despite trailing 8-5 at the start of the fifth chukka Vikings suddenly started to pile on the pressure and looked as though they might spoil Park Place’s unbeaten record, Juan Martin Zubia converted a penalty and after plenty of action in the Park Place goal, Sebastian Merlos scored; Facundo Pieres received a yellow card in the sixth chukka which followed by excellent play from Max Voelker and Chris Mackenzie saw Vikings take the lead, 9-8. Pieres fired through an equaliser with two minutes left on the clock and with both sides determined not to let the match go into extra time, there was all to play for – with just a few seconds remaining, it was Pieres who launched a big hit to goal to secure Park Place a 10-9 win. Polo action from The Talacrest Prince of Wales's Championship Cup Final on Sunday 22 August will see some of the finest polo players vie for the inaugural trophy. Off the field, the excitement will be equally sure not to disappoint with a collection of multi-million pound Ferraris and their owners in attendance.
