Spectators at polo has been given the green light from Monday 17 May, in light of the easing of government restrictions. The updated government guidelines will mean that • Outdoor gatherings will be limited to 30 people. • People will be able to attend outdoor sporting events subject to them follow the COVID-secure measures set out by those venues. Attendance will be capped at 4,000 people or 50 per cent of the venue capacity, whichever is smaller. • For outdoor seated venues, up to 10,000 attendees will be allowed or 25 per cent capacity, whichever is lower. This means, for example, Wembley Stadium will be able to open with 10,000 fans in attendance. The Hurlingham Polo Association has recommend that for spectators on the side of the ground, parking should be spaced so that individuals are able to adhere to the rules for social distancing and gatherings and where there are stands, the seating should be limited to 25% of the capacity. It is recommended that seating is arranged to allow a choice for any attendees to sit alone, in pairs or in different sized groups of 6 up to 30. For the full list of summer procedures, click here.
