Cowdray Park Polo Club is buzzing with high goal teams, as the 2019 King Power Gold Cup for The British Open burst into action yesterday, Tuesday 25 June. 10 teams have entered this year’s tournament, with La Indiana and Murus Sanctus beginning their tournaments with wins. La Indiana, with a change to the line-up which sees Marc Ganzi substitute for an injured Michael Bickford taking his first steps into the UK high goal, began proceedings with a 13-8 win against rivals Monterosso, claiming The Carlitos Gracida Memorial Trophy, a tribute to the late Mexian player who won The British Open 10 times. This first win was followed by a win for Corinne Ricard’s Murus Sanctus against 2017 winners VS King Power, 12-11. Play continues today, Wednesday 26 June, with the following matches: 2pm: Dubai vs Talandracas 4pm: La Bamba de Areco vs Park Place (It is not yet confirmed whether Cambiaso will play in injured David ‘Pelón’ Stirling’s place.
