Women’s Argentine Open

La Dolfina Brava and Ellerstina into the Final

On Tuesday 28 November at the Alfredo Lalor Headquarters in Pilar, the Semi Finals of the First Argentine Open Polo Women's ATMA Championship were played. Six teams have been battling it out for the coveted trophy for the past week, with players hailing from Argentina, Germany, the United States, France and England.

In the first match, on Ground 3, the unbeaten Ellerstina defeated Santa María de Lobos 13-2 with ferocity. Ellerstina, with fantastic play from both Clara Cassino and Hazel Jackson, had no problem beating the American line-up of the Santa María de Lobos team, playing an open and fluid game. As the chukkas went by, the Ellerstina ladies scored goal after goal, with only two in response from the Americans. With this win, Ellerstina progress to the Final.
In the second match of the day, La Dolfina Brava took on their rivals, and La Dolfina compatriots, La Dolfina Brava II. Mía Cambiaso and Milagros Fernández Araujo had a fantastic game, effectively passing the ball to and fro and through the posts on nine occasions. By the end of the fourth chukka, La Dolfina Brava were 10-1 up, but as the final two chukkas ticked down, Mía Novillo and María Bellande scored a further four goals for La Dolfina Brava II, with one more in response from La Dolfina Brava, to bring the final score to 11-5.
Ellerstina and La Dolfina Brava will now progress to the Final, which will take place on Saturday 2 December at 2pm, on Ground 2 at the sacred Palermo grounds in Buenos Aires. This Final will precede the men’s Argentine Open Final.
