Yes, the weather has turned, but that won’t deter all the polo aficionados from making the journey to their favourite clubs this weekend. Cowdray Park Polo Club will be hosting their biggest Final of the season, as King Power and El Remanso will clash for The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup. The match will take place on Sunday 23 July at 3pm, with the gates opening at 10.30am, whilst a host of other activities will be available for spectators on the day, from a Segway Polo display, the Petworth Town Band and helicopter flights. Cowdray Park will also see the Final of the 1921 Cup on Saturday. At RCBPC will be the Final of The Julian and Howard Hipwood Trophy, their third Victor Ludorum tournament, whilst Cirencester Park will be hosting the Final of the St James’s Place (Town Cup) 10 goal. Elsewhere across the country, play will be taking place in the Final of the Summer Cup at Dundee Polo Club and the Vale of York Polo Club will host its Hunt Cup. At Tidworth, the Light Infantry Trophy will be underway, whilst the next in the series of Pony Club tournaments will take place at Haggis Farm. Further afield, the Final of the first large tournament in Gilgil, Kenya, the Mugs Mug, will conclude on Sunday.
