Mon 3rd Apr 2017Butler Handicap FinalCoca Cola Wins as 26 Goal Action Continues Stateside
As the days tick down until the USPA Gold Cup, Coca Cola overtook a tenacious Flexjet team in the USPA Butler Handicap Final at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) yesterday, Sunday 2 April. Coca Cola took the title with a 12-9 win over Flexjet. Ultimately it was Johnston’s performance that propelled her team to the victory. She fired a total of 10 shots on goal, as many as the entire Flexjet team, and converted four of them to lead Coca Cola to the title. In light of this Coca Cola also swept the awards; Johnston was named Most Valuable Player and Luna, a horse she played (owned by G-String Polo Ponies), was awarded Best Playing Pony. All eyes now turn to the 2017 US Open Polo Championship which begins this Wednesday. Orchard Hill will lock horns with Valiente, who are undefeated this season. A win in the US Open will mean securing the US Triple Crown for Valiente as they have already cruised to victory in the C.V. Whitney and The USPA Gold Cup, they will surely be a determined force to be reckoned with. To keep up with the action, follow the latest from Polo Times. Not a subscriber? Click here.
