Fri 1st Jul 2016Going for Gold Day 9Wins for Valiente and Talandracas Murus Sanctus suffered a second defeat in their Jaeger-LeCoultre quest on Thursday 30 June against an altered Valiente line-up. Kian Hall, who played with Adolfo Cambiaso and Juan Martin Nero in the winning Cartier Queen’s Cup team for Dubai, was drafted in, replacing Ralph Richardson for the game. This was Valiente’s first game since their shock defeat by La Indiana, however they played and won with a casual air, plunging Murus Sanctus to the bottom of Bracket A. Corinne Ricard’s team only managed to start their scoring off in the second chukka thanks to Manuel Elizalde as they ended the second chukka 4-2. Despite many attempts from Ricard and her team, Valiente cruised through the chukkas maintaining a healthy lead to win 11-8. The second game of the day saw another team line-up shuffle with youngster Charles Cooney filling Talandracas’ Captain’s spot for Edouard Carmignac. It seemed to have a strong impact as Talandracas rode off the field at half-time with a 7-1 lead. The grey and pink shirts were determined and dominant in their game and strode away with a final score of 13-6 leaving RH Polo at the bottom of Bracket C having lost all three of their games so far. Polito Pieres was a goal scoring machine adding six goals, Sapo Caset added three goals with Tommy Beresford who scored twice and Cooney was credited with a goal to their win. Nico Pieres scored four times for RH Polo and his teammates Andrade and Patterson each added a goal. The competition continues on Saturday 2 July, click here to see the remaining games schedule.
