Going for Gold Day 2

Wins for Zacara and Clarke & Green in The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup for The British Open

On Wednesday 22 June, Lyndon Lea’s Zacara side played their first match of the 2016 Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup against Ben Soleiman’s RH Polo in a Group B/C match. Following an opening goal from Nico Pieres for RH Polo, Zacara romped away with goals from Pablo MacDonough, Lucas Monteverde and Tom Brodie to end the first chukka 3-1 ahead. Four more goals from MacDonough in the next two chukkas with no response from the RH Polo side saw the first half end at 7-1 in Zacara’s favour. Goals from Roberto Andrade and Pieres for RH Polo in the fourth chukka did little to stem the onslaught from Zacara and a complete lack of goals from Soleimani’s side in the fifth chukka saw the scoreline at 12-3 in Zacara’s favour. The final score of 14-5 was a resounding victory for Lyndon Lea.

New team, Nick Clarke’s Clarke & Green took on Apes Hill Club in the second match of the day. Despite a reasonably even first half, it was soon evident that Clarke & Green had begun to find their stride finishing the third chukka 5-2 ahead. John Paul Clarkin worked hard for his side and after much goal for goal action and fast paced toing and froing the scoreline read 8-5 in Clarke & Green’s favour going into the last chukka. A goal from Tom Beim saw Apes Hill come within touching distance, but once again it was Clarkin who proved himself to be quicker than the Apes Hill boys, scoring a final goal that brought the game to a close at 9-6 to Clarke & Green. A great debut for the new team.

Next to tussle will be La Indiana vs Britannia El Remanso, while La Bamba de Areco get set to tango with King Power Foxes.
