Ellerstina To Face La Dolfina in Final of The Tortugas Open

Pieres Cousins Defeat La Aguada In Unbeaten Season To Date

The Ellerstina team, yet to be defeated this season, beat La Aguada 17-10 at Sunday's Zone B match at Tortugas Country Club. As a result, they will now face La Dolfina, top team in Zone A, in the Final for the Emilio de Anchorena Cup on Saturday 17 October.
The Ellerstina team put up an amazing display against La Aguada, showing how strong their line-up is as they dominated the game from the first chukka, and upping their score from the off, courtesy of textbook penalties from Facundo Pieres backed up by striking play from Gonzalo and Pablo Pieres. La Aguada soon settled, however, adjusting to the Ellerstina team's dominating style, and returned the attack, doing their best to bridge the goal difference with penalties from Agustín Merlos, and excellent defensive strategy from Guillermo Terrera and Guillermo Caset, who foiled many of Ellerstina's otherwise solid plays with nifty teamwork.
In the third chukka, Ellerstina caught up and reconciled their dominating performance of the opening minutes, increasing the lead to 5 goals. However, La Aguada answered this, by locking down the fourth chukka, which, despite making for a rather stilted game, did ensure that Ellerstina's lead was limited.
However, by the final seven minutes,  La Aguada were tiring, and Ellerstina succeeded in putting them off balance to assert their dominance, scoring another four consecutive goals to stamp their mark on the result of the match. Despite another two last minute goals from Agustín Merlos, the match was Ellerstina's, with a 17-10 victory.
On Saturday 10 October, La Dolfina qualified for the Final in a match against Alegría, which saw them flatten the opposing team 18-8, having already beaten Chapaleufú 20-6 earlier in the week.

The Tortugas Open forms the 'first jewel' of the Asociación Argentina de Polo's Triple Crown, which continues this month with the 122nd Hurlingham Open, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, this year played between six teams of between 34 and 40 goals.
