The Cartier Queen’s Cup in full swing

King Power Foxes and Zacara both holding strong

The 22 goal Cartier Queen’s Cup is well underway with just under a third of the games now played. There are only six more games left in the initial league stages before the second round of games begin on 2 June. Zacara and King Power Foxes are both leading the way having won both of their games to date. Top Srivaddhanaprabha and his team King Power Foxes have defeated VPS Healthcare Sifani and HB Polo with sounds scores and will next face Dubai on Saturday 30 May. Dubai have had a rocky start to the tournament losing to UAE Polo Team in their opening game, but defeating the all-Brit line-up of Somerton Polo with a convincing score of 12-5. Zacara have galloped through the games defeating both RH Polo and Talandracas. Hilali Noordeens’ VPS Healthcare Sifani is having a disappointing start to the season, following their failure to reach the Quarter Finals in last years Cartier Queen’s Cup they look set to go the same way.

Monday’s games, day six of play, saw King Power Foxes win against the Pailloncy brothers's HB Polo team at King Power's home ground. HB Polo received two goals on handicap at the start of the match and so the score looked fairly respectable in the first half, despite this team failing to score at all in chukkas two and three. By half-time, with the score reading 10-6 to Top Srivaddhanaprbha’ team, the final score was not too much of a surprise. Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres dominated the goal scoring, putting through seven and five goals respectively. The youngest member of King Power Foxes, Hugo Lewis, added one in the fourth chukka. Cristian Laprida and Ignacio Toccalino worked hard to keep HB Polo's hopes alive, scoring some excellent field goals, but they were no match today for the mighty King Power Foxes and their impressive horsepower, reflected in the score of 13-8 in favour of King Power Foxes.
