Wed 25th Feb 2015Arena Gold Cup Semi Finals decidedBlack Hound and Silex will play for The Silver Cup
The Semi Finals of the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club’s Gold Cup will be played for tomorrow, Thursday 26 February. The first match will be between Gaucho and Chopendoz Eclipse, followed by Sifani against title-holders Black Eagles in The Gold Cup deciding games. Gaucho (Faisal Al-Rifai (2), Oscar Mancini (6) and Adolfo Casabal (7)) have achieved tournament successes over Simon Arber’s Black Hound and Hilali Noordeen’s Sifani, winning both games by just one goal with score of 18-17 and 21-20 respectively. Chopendoz Eclipse (Ed Banner-Eve (3), Alec Banner-Eve (4) and Jamie Morrison (7)) faired less well with a bumpier ride to the Semi Finals by winning against Silex 19-16, but losing to Black Eagles 23-21. The Banner-Eve brothers will have to pull it out of the bag to win against seasoned players Mancini and Casabal of Gaucho, however their form to date in the arena has been a winning one. Sifani (Hilali Noordeen (1), Goffredo Cutinelli (4) and Max Charlton (8)) had a very convincing win against Black Hound with a final score of 25-17, but missed out on a win against Gaucho. They go through to the Semi Finals against the favourites for the tournament, Black Eagles. Besides beating Chopendoz Eclipse, Jonathan Munro Ford’s team also won with the highest goal score of the tournament to date (28-21), against Richard Fagan’s Silex. The first game of the day on Saturday 28 February will be The Silver Cup at 12 noon between Black Hound (Simon Arber (1), Tarquin Southwell (7) and Pete Webb (7)) and Silex (Richard Fagan (1), Mikey Henderson (6) and Sebastian Dawnay (8)) before The Gold Cup Final at 2pm.
