Cortium lose first Gold Cup match

The Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup is now well underway at Cowdray Park

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS CORTIUM Jaeger-LeCoultre suffered defeat to UAE Polo in their first match of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup at Cowdray Park. Adrian Kirby's team lost 13-9 to HH Sheikha's Maitha's side, having trailed for much of the game.

El Remanso and Les Lions were the other winners on the third day of play at Cowdray Park. George Hanbury's El Remanso had the edge over Black Bears, winning 11-10, whereas Les Lions thundered past HB Polo to win 11-5.

Enigma registered a solid 15-5 victory over Thai Polo on Tuesday, despite patron Jerome Wirth being replaced by Tommy Beresford due to injury, and Charlie Hanbury being forced off the field after the fifth chukka with a broken ankle. Earlier in the day, La Bamba de Areco narrowly defeated Emlor 11-10.

Gold Cup action continues today, with Sumaya set to meet Lucchese at 1pm.
