DESERT PALM WON the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge yesterday (Sunday 24 February), after narrowly defeating Cartier 6.5-6. Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was a key member of the team, which made it through to the final unbeaten and was hot favourite to win the trophy.
HH Sheikha Maitha was joined by Guillermo Healy, Martin Valent and Facundo Castagnola. They came up against a combination of Adriano Agosti, Saeed Bin Drai, Juan José Brane and Mariano Uranga, who was named most valuable player.
Earlier in the day, Jonathan Munro Ford's CNN team won the subsidiary final. The side, which also featured Chris Hyde, beat Emirates NBD 7.5-6.
