Mon 22nd Jun 2026The S2 Mechanical Warwickshire Cup English led Thai Polo Team take the Warwickshire Cup Win
Thai Polo claimed the Warwickshire Cup at Cirencester Park Polo Club after edging Lovelocks Polo Stud 11-10 in a hard-fought and British pro led 22 goal Final on Saturday 20 June. Five of the eight players on the field were our very own homegrown heroes, and it was a pleasure to watch polo at such a level led by English talent.
Played at England’s oldest Polo Club, founded in 1894, the Warwickshire Cup remains Cirencester Park Polo Club’s most important tournament and this year featured a competitive mix of four teams up to 22 goals. Thai Polo arrived in strong form, having already recorded narrow wins over Monterosso and Jindal Steel /La Dolfina during the competition, and once again showed their ability to close out a tight match when it mattered most.
Lovelocks Polo Stud made the stronger start and led 3-2 after the opening chukka, but Thai Polo responded quickly. Led by siblings Milly and Louis Hine, alongside Will Harper and the dominant Argentine powerhouse Hilario Ulloa, Thai Polo turned the match around in the second chukka to move 6-4 ahead. Their momentum continued through the third, with Ulloa central to the attack as they extended their advantage to 9-5.
By the end of the fourth, Thai Polo still held a 10-7 lead, but Lovelocks refused to let the game slip away. Charlie Hanbury’s side outscored Thai Polo 2-0 in the fifth to reduce the deficit, before winning the sixth chukka 2-1 and setting up a tense finish. However, Thai Polo’s early cushion proved decisive and one final goal for Thai Polo was enough to secure the 11-10 victory.
Ulloa was the standout figure of the Final, scoring eight of Thai Polo’s 11 goals, while Carlos Ulloa led Lovelocks Polo Stud’s challenge with five goals. The result capped an impressive tournament for Thai Polo, who showed both attacking firepower and composure under pressure across the week and marks a family record with all three Hine siblings currently holding 22 goal winning records with Milly and Louis’ brother Ned crowned The Cartier Queen’s Cup title holder after his win with Balanz Capital last weekend.
The Subsidiary Final went to Monterosso, who beat Jindal Steel La Dolfina 8-7.
