As the UK season moves into its final few weekends, there is little rest as all eyes turn to Argentina, where the highly anticipated high goal season is now underway. The 61st Jockey Club Open, Copa Eminent, began on Tuesday 8 September at the Jockey Club’s San Isidro grounds and will continue through to 19 September.
The tournament opened on Ground 5 with a victory for the formidable 34 goal La Natividad La Dolfina combination. Camilo and Barto Castagnola, Poroto Cambiaso and Lolo Castagnola defeated Don Ercole 15-10 to make a winning start to their campaign.
Five teams rated between 28 and 34 goals are competing for the title, bringing together some of the world’s leading players, including the Castagnola brothers, Adolfo ‘Poroto’ Cambiaso, Hilario Ulloa and Juan Martín Nero, alongside a strong international contingent.
The opening phase continues until Saturday 12 September, with the top four teams progressing to the Semi Finals on Wednesday 16 September. The Final is scheduled for Saturday 19 September.
