Mon 30th Jul 2012Jersey to host beach polo event in September Organisers granted permission to host tournament on beach
IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED that Jersey will host a beach polo tournament on 19 September. Held at St Brelades Bay, four teams - including a team from Great Britain - will compete in the one-day competition.
Horses are banned from the beaches of Jersey between 10.30am and 6pm so organisers had to apply for special permission in order to hold the event. Now that they have been granted permission, the organisers have started planning for September's tournament.
It is understood that Andrew Hine and the Guards Polo Academy will provide the ponies, as Jersey does not have enough of its own.
The event will raise money for Riding for the Disabled Jersey and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Society.
