Tue 9th Jun 2026Polo in the Park England Triumphant in The Olympic Trophy
One of the most iconic and popular polo events took place in London over the weekend Friday 5 to Sunday 7 June as Chestertons Polo in the Park took over Hurlingham Park and brought polo to the heart of the city once again.
The sporting excitement opened in front of sell-out crowds with England defeating South Africa 7-6 to reclaim The Olympic Trophy on Friday 5 June. South Africa fought back from deficits of 4-1 and 6-5 and appeared to have won the match with a late two-point goal before it was ruled a single point after a deflection. Max Charlton secured victory for England in the deciding rundown alongside teammates Hazel Jackson and Ed Banner-Eve.
Meanwhile, The International City Competition began with Team Texas defeating Team Cape Town 6-3, Team Riyadh beating Disney+ Team Rivals 7-3 and Team London overcoming Team Zurich 6-1, led by six points from Ollie Cudmore.
On Saturday 6 June, also known as Ladies Day, Team Riyadh maintained their unbeaten record with a 5-2 victory over Team London to book a place in the Final. Team Texas joined them after defeating Team Zurich 6-3. Disney+ Team Rivals recorded their first win of the tournament, beating Team Cape Town 8-5.
Finals Day loomed wet and windy, but the weather didn’t dampen spirits as huge crowds gathered on Family Day to witness the culmination of the weekend’s competition. Red Sea Global Team Riyadh made history by becoming the first team to win three consecutive Chestertons Polo in the Park titles in a row, as they defeated Icon Global / AMASE Team Texas 5-4 in a Final decided by a showstopping rundown.
