Tue 3rd Jul 2012England win Suffolk international and Dubai remain unbeaten in Gold Cup Home side win Suffolk's first international
Suffolk hosted their first international polo match on Saturday, where England defeated Australia, 10-8.5. A ground was specially prepared to hold the match at Trinity Park, where 6,000 spectators flowed through the gates to witness the home side – George Meyrick, Richard Le Poer, Max Charlton and Lanto Sheridan – claim victory. Earlier in the day, Suffolk played Norfolk, where the latter won 6.5-5.
Meanwhile, six Gold Cup matches were played over the weekend at Cowdray Park. Dubai remain unbeaten, having won their third consecutive game on Saturday against EFG Bank Aravali. Salkeld – featuring Luke Tomlinson and James Beim – are also yet to lose a match and look set to reach the quarter-finals. The side beat Ellerston – who have only won one game so far in the competition – on Saturday.
The following day started with the first win for Talandracas, while defending champions Zacara clocked their first loss of the tournament against Piaget. Richard Mille and Coca Cola came up against each other in the last match of the day, where Richard Mille secured their first win of the tournament.
Following today’s game between Ellerston and Thai Polo, four games will be played tomorrow. The quarter-finals are due to be played on Saturday (7 July).
