Mon 6th Feb 2012England remain unbeaten in FIP Snow Polo World Cup England win second FIP Snow Polo World Cup game
Action from the Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup at Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club in Tianjin, China, continued this weekend. England remain unbeaten in the competition, having defeated Hong Kong on Saturday and the USA today, Monday 6 February.
Following the opening ceremony on Saturday, which included a formation of 12 microlight planes and 12 powered parachutes to welcome guests, England and Hong Kong took to the arena. The Brits – Chris Hyde, Jamie Le Hardy and Max Charlton – secured an early lead but Hong Kong fought back and the lead switched regularly throughout the game. With the match ending in a draw, a penalty shoot out ensued, which England won having scored two penalties to Hong Kong’s none. Today, England eased to a 5-4 win over the USA, having lead throughout much of the game.
Chile and Australia also remain unbeaten in the tournament. Chile beat France, 6-2, on Sunday and Australia defeated Brazil, 8-7, in a closely fought game. Tomorrow, the two winning sides will face each other in the last of the league games.
The quarter-finals take place this Thursday, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday. The final will be played on Sunday (12 February). To see the full list of teams and results, please click here.
