Wed 22nd May 2013Argentina defeats England in Gaucho International Argentina got their revenge on England with victory at the O2 Arena
ENGLAND LOST NARROWLY to Argentina at the Gaucho International last night, after failing to convert a penalty with a single second left on the clock.
The England trio of captain Jamie Morrison, Max Charlton and Maurice Ormerod pulled back from a 5-goal deficit at the beginning of the fourth chukka, against the Argentina side of Oscar Mancini, Adolfo Casabal and Andrea Vianini. With one second to go, Morrison had the chance to bring the score level for the first time in the match with a defended penalty, but the ball went wide, securing Argentina an 11-10 victory and revenge on England after suffering defeat last year.
Vianini replaced Nacho Figueras, who was unable to play due to a fractured pelvis following a fall at Cowdray Park last weekend.
The event's main match mirrored the earlier clash between Mexico and Scotland, in which the Mexican side of Carlos and Carlitos Gracida and Luis Escobar got the better of the Scotland team – Jamie Le Hardy, Jamie Peel and Howard Smith – 11-10.
