On Sunday 24 March, La Dolfina/ Tonkawa and Valiente went head-to-head in The USPA Gold Cup Final at the USPA-owned National Polo Center, in Wellington, Florida in the second leg of the 2024 Gauntlet of Polo. Father and son duo of Adolfo and Poroto Cambiaso faced each other in the Final, but La Dolfina/Tonkawa managed to remain in the lead throughout the six chukkas and secured a 12-9 victory which now means that each Cambiaso has one of the 2024 Gauntlet of Polo titles to their name with Poroto winning The USPA Gold Cup and Adolfo securing The C.V. Whitney Cup in February. This was Poroto and Tomás Panelo’s second consecutive USPA Gold Cup, after winning the tournament with Scone in 2023 and Rufino Merlos’ first major US win. Panelo, who scored five goals and was the top scorer of the Final, was named Most Valuable Player and Antu Walung Rumba, played by Paco de Narvaez Jr., was chosen as the Best Playing Pony. The third and final phase of The Gauntlet of Polo is The US Open Polo Championship which begins on Wednesday 27 March.
