On Thursday, January 25, the initial draw event for the 2024 Gauntlet of Polo series concluded at the National Polo Center-Wellington (NPC), finalizing the bracket play lineup for this year's competition. The Gauntlet of Polo, now in its sixth consecutive year, is a prominent winter polo event that attracts elite polo players to South Florida, competing for three highly coveted American titles: The C.V. Whitney Cup, USPA Gold Cup, and U.S. Open Polo Championship. Eight teams are poised to participate in the first phase of the tournament, the C.V. Whitney Cup, which will determine a contender for the 2024 Gauntlet. Named in honour of Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, a dedicated polo player and three-time U.S. Open winner, the tournament was last claimed by Valiente in 2023. Valiente secured their fifth C.V. Whitney victory and a $50,000 prize by defeating Pilot in the final match. The C.V. Whitney begins on Friday 9 February with Valiente vs Coca Cola and La Fe vs Tamera.
