Mon 8th Jun 2015The Cartier Queen's Cup Quarter Finals 2015Weekend matches see King Power Foxes, Dubai, UAE & Talandracas through to the next round After a 14-9 win over Salkeld, King Power Foxes are comfortably into the Semi-Finals of The Cartier Queen's Cup. An intense game played at Jo Gottschalk’s Les Lions ground resulted in King Power Foxes conquering the hard-fighting Salkeld, who had levelled the score to 5-5 by half time. However, Salkeld were outfoxed as Facundo Pieres and Hugo Lewis put on the pressure in the final minutes of the match to win. Dubai's win over Zacara followed major team changes for both sides due to various injuries. After a 5-5 draw at half time, Dubai turned up the heat to win 10-8. After extra time and a golden goal from the stick of Santiago Stirling, UAE Polo Team could be facing their Middle Eastern rivals Dubai on Wednesday. Winning 11-10, the match between King Power and UAE was hard fought, with King Power 5-3 up at half time, and the latter half of the game becoming a struggle for advantage. However, as extra time was called, UAE changed gear and MacDonough smoothly backed Stirling up to score the winning goal. Talandracas beat RH Polo 11-10 after a close game and some beautiful play from both teams. All eyes were drawn in particular to the Pieres cousins, Nico and Polito, who were playing against each other on opposing teams, and whose plays made for spectacular viewing. Talandracas received the Gerald Leigh Trophy upon their victory. Click here for full results. Photograph: Talandracas were awarded The Gerald Leigh Trophy after their win over RH Polo.
