Fri 31st May 2013El Remanso secures Queen's Cup quarter-final spot George Hanbury's team tops league one having won all three of their league games
EL REMANSO IS the first team through to the quarter-finals of the Cartier Queen's Cup. The team of Ali Paterson, George Hanbury, David “Pelon” Stirling and Guillermo Terrera defeated Emlor 13-8 today at Guards Polo Club to claim their third league win of the tournament, securing themselves a place in the next round.
The team, who reached the semi-finals of the Queen's Cup last year, produced one of the shock results of this year's tournament, when they came from behind to defeat defending champions Dubai 18-17 on the opening day of play.
They also got the better of Enigma, 9-8, last weekend, with patron George Hanbury playing against his brother Charlie, who made the switch from El Remanso to Enigma this year.
Enigma will play Dubai tomorrow. League three teams Salkeld and Le Bamba de Areco will also be in action.
The quarter-finals will begin on Saturday 8 June, with the final due on Sunday 16 June.
