Wed 24th Jun 2026Ready, Steady Go-ld Cup St. Regis British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup Gets Underway
Things are heating up in every sense of the word as the sun beats down for the start of one of the most exciting tournaments of the UK season and the culmination of the high goal run here in England.
19 teams will contest this year’s St. Regis British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, with the 2026 line-up bringing together established organisations, emerging teams, leading British players and a strong Argentine presence.
Three 10-goalers headline the entry list, with Camilo ‘Jeta’ Castagnola, Adolfo ‘Poroto’ Cambiaso and Pablo ‘Polito’ Pieres all set to compete at Cowdray Park. They will be joined by a strong British contingent including James Harper, Hugo Taylor, Matt Perry, Tommy Beresford, Luke Wiles, Tommy Severn and the Hine brothers, Ned and Louis.
With a mix of balanced professional line-ups, star-led teams and next-generation talent, this year’s Gold Cup promises a competitive and unpredictable high goal tournament.
While Wednesday and Thursday’s matches have been postponed due to severe weather warnings, Tuesday 23 June saw the tournament get off to a great start with two matches. First up Gaston Polo beat Jehangiri 12-10 to start their Gold Cup campaign in style before Akasha continued their winning streak with a 14-10 victory over White Crane.
