The C.V. Whitney Cup, the first leg of the Gauntlet of Polo, began on Friday 13 February at the National Polo Center in Wellington; nine teams up to 22 goals are taking part in the tournament.
La Dolfina Tamera, who won the 2025 C.V. Whitney Cup as Tamera, secured a narrow 12-11 win against Park Place, followed by a 10-6 win for Dutta Corp against Clearwater and a 19-12 victory for Pilot, who are the only team to have won the Gauntlet of Polo series which they did in 2019, against last year’s C.V. Whitney runners-up Coca-Cola.
The action continued on Tuesday 17 February with three more matches: DUS narrowly beat Clearwater 8-7; Coca-Cola beat BTA 16-13 and La Dolfina/Scone beat Park Place 12-9.
Three more matches are scheduled for Friday 20 February: BTA vs Pilot, La Dolfina/Tamera vs La Dolfina/Scone and The Dutta Corp vs DUS. Followed by the Semi Finals next week on Wednesday 25 February and the Final on Sunday 1 March.
