Spectators were treated to a thrilling day of polo at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club on Saturday 14 February as four teams battled it out for The Dubai Gold Cup and The Subsidiary Bentley Cup Final.
First up, Habtoor triumphed over Ghantoot 11-7 in a close match to win The Bentley Cup before the main event of the day took place.
In the Final, Habtoor Al Habtoor’s Dubai Wolves by Thera side dominated early, starting strong to gain a lead they would maintain throughout. Having met in the league stages, the Wolves had the advantage of a win under their belts, but UAE, who have won the tournament six times in the past, were determined to add the seventh title to their trophy list. It was not to be however as despite relentless pressure and defensive play, UAE were unable to gain the upper hand, Dubai Wolves by Thera building their lead through the 5 chukkas to finish victorious with 11 goals to 8.
Félix Esain was named Most Valuable Player with Only Caravina, ridden by Esain, taking the Best Playing Pony honours.
