Wed 28th Nov 2012Buenos Aires triumphs at Emirates Palace London lose out as Buenos Aires finish the winners of the inaugural Coutts Polo at the Palace this weekend
Team London finished fourth at the inaugural Coutts Polo at the Palace, held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
It was Mohammed Al Habtoor's Buenos Aires team who finished as winners, defeating Abu Dhabi 6-5 in the final, which ended in a penalty shoot-out after the teams finsihed on level scores.
The London line-up of Stuart Wrigley, Peter Webb and William Emerson failed to reach the final after being beaten by Abu Dhabi in the opening match. They were then narrowly defeated by Milan in the subsidiary final, 9-8.
Polo at the Palace was a spin-off from the popular Polo in the Park event, and was played in a similar format, with three players on each team and a smaller polo field. It is part of the City Polo series, which organises polo events in iconic cities around the world.
