Wed 11th May 2011 USA qualify for the FIP World Cup First Zone A team qualifies for October’s FIP World Cup in Argentina The USA have become the first team to qualify for October's FIP World Cup after winning the Zone A qualifiers in the Dominican Republic. The Americans were pitted against Guatemala and Canada in the first leg of the Zone A qualifiers and they came out on top to book their place in the finals, which take place in Argentina from 10-22 October. The USA join Argentina, who qualify automatically as hosts, and Chile, who also qualify automatically as defending champions, in the 10-team 14-goal finals.  Mexico and the Dominican Republic will play each other this Friday (13 May) and Sunday (15 May) to decide the second and final Zone A team to go through. Between now and September the three other world zones will also host qualifiers.   Zone B qualifiers take place from 20-25 June in Brazil. Only one team from this zone will qualify, as only four teams feature in the section – Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Peru.   Three clubs in Malaysia – Royal Pahang Polo Club, Putrajaya Equestrian and Royal Selangor Polo Club – are hosting the Zone D qualifiers from 10-24 June. Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Malaysia, India and Pakistan will battle it out for the three qualifying spaces available in this zone.   Villa a Sesta in Italy will host the Zone C qualifiers from 22 September to 2 October. The teams are yet to be decided but it is thought Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands and England will participate.
