Mon 30th Mar 2026USPA Gold Cup Final Rained Off Semi Final wins for Pilot and La Dolfina Scone but a delayed Final
Two exciting Semi Final matches took place on Wednesday 15 March at The National Polo Center (NPC) in Wellington, Florida to determine the finalists for The USPA Gold Cup, the second tournament in the three-part Gauntlet of Polo.
The first match was a Cambiaso vs Cambiaso affair with the two La Dolfina sides facing off for their place in the Final. Having played each other previously in the tournament, the match going in to overtime with La Dolfina Scone winning 11-10, the crowds were expecting another close and dramatic match, but La Dolfina Scone’s unbeaten record in the tournament had them playing with confidence and style and the result was the same as before, La Dolfina Scone victorious, but this time with a significant 14-10 lead.
The second Semi Final was a harder fought affair. A replay of the Semi Final match from The C.V Whitney Cup which saw The Dutta Corp take their place in the Final they would go on to win, it was Pilot vs The Dutta Corp. This time however the match went in Pilot’s favour. A spectacular comeback in the final chukka saw them overcome a 10-9 deficit, outscoring The Dutta Corp 4-1 in the last chukka to steal the lead and the victory.
All was set at The NPC for a Sunday Polo spectacle and the unbeaten finalists were ready to battle, but rain across the state meant pitches were too wet and conditions too dangerous to play and this the match has been postponed. A new date will be set by the USPA for the Final when weather conditions improve.
