Mon 11th Nov 2024131st HSBC Argentine Open UpdateWeekend wins for La Hache, Ellerstina & La Dolfina Saudi
Following the single match on Friday 8 November which saw La Natividad beat La Hache Cría & Polo, The 131st Argentine Open action continued over the weekend with three matches. On Saturday 9 November La Hache, the recent winners of The Tortugas Open, made their Argentine Open debut against La Aguada. La Hache got off to a strong start and although La Aguada tried to close the gap, La Hache pulled ahead mainly thanks to the efforts of Tomás Panelo and Fran Elizalde who scored seven goals each. Despite accurate penalty converting from La Aguada’s Pedrinho Zacharias it was not enough and La Hache stormed to victory 20-12. The second match of the day saw Tortugas Open finalists Ellerstina make their debut as well with their match against La Zeta Kazak, which saw a clash between the Pieres brothers as Nico Pieres led La Zeta Kazak and Gonzalito Pieres the only remaining Pieres within the line-up. Ellerstina pulled ahead in the second chukka, with Sapo Caset producing 10 goals whilst ably supported by the young Lukin Monteverde to secure their 21-11 win. The weekend’s action concluded on Sunday 10 November between two Cañuelas teams, La Dolfina Saudi and Cría La Dolfina. La Dolfina Saudi dominated the match with Juan Martín Nero strong in both his usual back position and as an accurate scorer. La Dolfina Saudi gelled perfectly together once again and by the eighth chukka they had pulled ahead 17-10, but although the clock was ticking down Juan Martín Nero, Poroto Cambiaso and Pelon Stirling produced three unanswered goals to end the match with a final score of 20-10. The 131st Argentine Open continues on Friday 15 November with La Hache Cría & Polo vs La Aguada, followed by Cría La Dolfina vs La Zeta Kazak and La Hache vs Indios Chapaleufu on Saturday 16 November, concluding with Ellerstina vs La Ensenada on Sunday 17 November.
