The Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) has announced the appointment of Josh Tuthill to the new position as Director of Sport, “The position’s focus is to lead on the running of the sport of polo in relation to: • The communication, guidance and implementation of the rules of the sport • Umpire development, communication and organisation • Development and delivery of polo at all levels of competitions for England teams domestically and internationally and to lead the polo talent pathway with Pony Club, SUPA, Junior HPA and Youth polo generally • To lead on club liaison, acting as the primary point of contact ensuring the HPA is supporting their needs • Supporting the membership, Team Managers, Polo Managers in fully understanding the HPA rules • To ensure a robust process on the handicapping of players via the HPA handicap committee • Working with International Associations to develop the relationship and align the rules where appropriate. This role will be undertaken in close liaison with the relevant HPA Committee Chairs.” The news follows on from the announcement of Olly Hughes’ departure from the HPA after over 10 years in the post. Olly is joining the British Hound Sports Association during August as its first Managing Director. |
