Tue 21st Dec 2021Polo Times Out Now!December 2021/January 2022 Issue
With the festive season well upon us, we round off 2021 with our combined December/January issue of Polo Times. This issue covers action from across the globe, with of course the Argentine Triple Crown being the talked about event over the past few weeks, with La Natividad’s impressive 2021 season securing The Argentine Open and Hurlingham Open, which saw Polito Pieres and Jeta and Barto Castagnola’s handicaps raised to 10 goals; this made Jeta Castagnola the youngest 10 goal player in Argentine history at just 18-years-old. Argentina aside, this issue also includes a report from Simon Ledger on the Egypt Army Polo Tour which was finally able to go ahead after two years of postponement. Closer to home we feature the latest event from SUPA, The University Challenge, which saw an impressive number of players descend on Rugby Polo Club for two days of university polo. Sadly, this issue also includes Sir Charles ‘Cow’ Williams’ obituary, a true polo legend and his contribution to polo in the UK and Barbados will not be forgotten. As ever our Knowledge pages are packed with player and pony tips, with a particular focus on how to stay fit over Christmas and avoid the winter bulge, plus a look back at our contributors’ best bits of 2021. This issue’s Passions interviewee is Dillon Bacon, who will be competing in the 2022 Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz with Aristide Faggionato (2), Max Charlton (6) & Robert Strom (5) who he has had much success with over the years, so we are very much looking forward to seeing this team in action on the frozen lake in St. Moritz in January. On a side note, the Polo Times office is now closed until Monday 10 January 2022, we all wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! |
