Inaugural Talacrest Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup

Park Place looking strong after first week’s competition

All new for 2021 in the elite 22 goal bracket is the Talacrest Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup and the much-anticipated new late summer tournament began with play to decide the first champions on Wednesday 4 August. 
The opening match began with action between Monterosso and Vikings which saw an edge-of the-seat Penalty 3 conversion from Juan Martin Zubia to secure Vikings the win by a whisker with a closer than close final score of 11-10.
After the first week of competition Park Place look strong, with attacking play securing a 9-8 win over Bardon in their first outing of the tournament. Their second game saw Park Place bring a truly impressive performance, with constant pressure in attack and superb defence resulting in a decisive and impressive 10-5 victory over the UAE Polo Team. A result that had never really looked in any doubt to those watching.  
Entering the second week of the competition Vikings return for their second game in the competition against UAE Polo Team as they try to join Park Place with a 2-0 record. Later in the week, Bardon will meet UAE Polo Team in a game that will hold implications for spots in the Semi Final making it an important game to win for both teams. 
So, all eyes are on Guards Polo Club as play resumes on Wednesday 11 August. Matches will then continue through to Finals day on Sunday 22 August which will see the Talacrest Trophy for the Subsidiary Final played at 11am and the Final of the Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup at 3.30pm. All action can be livestreamed on Guards TV and the Club are offering hospitality packages for Finals day, which can be viewed here.
