Sat 3rd Apr 2021Cuatro Vientos Secure República Argentina CupFather & son duos feature in Final
The República Argentina Cup is a unique competition which allows teams from 0 to 40 goals from across Argentina to compete against one another for a place in the Final which takes place at Palermo. The tournament was first established in 1929, and in 2020 the tournament was cancelled due to Covid-19. This year’s Final was played on Thursday 1 April between La Aguada and Cuatro Vientos and saw two father-son duos – Santiago Chavanne and his 13-year-old son Lorenzo for Cuatro Vientos and Eduardo Novillo Astrada Jr and his 20-year-old son Cruz for La Aguada. With a handicap of just 19 goals compared to La Aguada’s 24 goals, Cuatro Vientos began with a five goal handicap advantage – the lower handicapped teams fully utilised this advantage and maintained their lead over all six chukkas, taking home the title with a 12-9 win. Ve Ocho Feliz, played by Santiago Chavanne was the Best Playing Pony.
