Hurlingham Open Semi Finalists Decided
La Dolfina Saudi vs RS Murus Sanctus & Ellerstina vs La Natividad/Las Monjitas
Over the weekend, the action continued in The Hurlingham Open with the Semi Final teams decided, as with The Tortugas Open this tournament is also being played behind closed doors, in a single elimination format.
On Saturday 14 November, two matches were played; the first saw La Dolfina Saudi welcome back 10 goal teammate Pablo MacDonough, with whom they easily dominated La Ensenada La Aguada 15-4 to take their place in the Semi Finals. The second match of the day saw RS Murus Sanctus get off to a strong start, but Los Machitos put up a good fight with the scores tight throughout the match; in the end RS Murus Sanctus triumphed with a final score of 13-11 and with it their place in the Semi Finals.
The following day, Sunday 15 November, saw two more matches; the first was between Tortugas champions Ellerstina and La Irenita. Ellerstina predictably led from the outset, with a 5-0 lead at the end of the first chukka and by half-time this has increased to an impressive 12-3. By the time the final whistle blew, Ellerstina had secured themselves their place in the Semi Finals with a 22-6 win. The second match of the day was one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament with La Dolfina Polo Ranch vs La Natividad Las Monjitas. Both teams were evenly matched and this was reflected in the 1-1 score at the end of the first chukka. With field goals and tied scores aplenty, at half-time La Natividad Las Monjitas led 7-6. The seocn dhalf was a very different affair as La Natividad Las Monjitas dominated with the Castagnolas showing the flair and teamwork they have become so famed for and the match closed with a convincing 18-11 win for La Natividad Las Monjitas.
These results mean that the Semi Finals have now been set with La Dolfina Saudi vs RS Murus Sanctus on Tuesday 17 November and Ellerstina vs La Natividad/Las Monjitas on Wednesday 18 November.
