The II Women’s Argentine Open Championship is underway in Buenos Aires, with the teams presented to the world’s press earlier this week. Play began on Monday 3 December, at Pilar, with the Final due to take place on Palermo’s number two ground just before the Men’s Argentine Open Final on Saturday 15 December. Four teams are taking part, of up to 32 goals, with some of the world’s greatest female players, including an abundance of players from the British Isles. In the first set of matches, El Overo Z7 UAE defeated Santa María de Lobos 17-3 to start their tournament on a high. La Dolfina Brava then defeated Alegría/HPA 1875 17-2 in their first match of the tournament. There is an excellent representation of British players this year, with Hazel Jackson-Gaona and Sarah Wiseman playing for El Overo Z7 UAE and world-number-one Nina Clarkin sporting the La Dolfina Brava colours once again. Play continues today with El Overo Z7 UAE against La Dolfina Brava and Santa María de Lobos vs Alegría/HPA 1875.
