Fri 31st Aug 2018Sotogrande UpdateFinalists for Gold Cups set across low, medium & high goal
Today, Friday 31 August, at 6pm (local time) will see Lechuza Caracas and La Indiana face each other in The Maserati High Goal Gold Cup Final at Santa María Polo Club. La Indiana secured themselves a spot in the Final following a convincing 13-9 win over Bardon in the Semi Finals on Tuesday 28 August, whilst Lechuza Caracas took things to the wire with a narrow 10-9 triumph over Dubai in over time. All eyes now turn to the heart of Spanish polo to see which team will come out on top later today. Yesterday, Thursday 30 August, saw Cotton House defeat Golden goose 13-12 in The Maserati High Goal Gold Cup Subsidiary Final. Cotton House maintained an easy lead for the majority of the match, however Golden Goose did manage to field a comeback, but it was too little too late and Cotton House’s early lead proved too much to overcome. The action continues tomorrow with a double bill of thrill filled polo with the Finals of both The Maserati Medium Goal and Low Goal Gold Cups. In The Maserati Medium Goal Gold Cup Final tomorrow at 6.15pm (local time) Ayala will face MB Polo, who will have their work cut out against Ayala who have enjoyed an unbeaten run to the Final. Following the results of Thursday’s Semi Finals, The Maserati Low Goal Gold Cup finalists have been set as Sotoisla and Brunei, which will be played at 4.45pm (local time). At the same time, La Isla and La Esperanza will face each other in the Subsidiary Final at Santa María Polo Club. With these Finals comes the end of the 47th Polo International at Santa María Polo Club – a full report of the tournament will be included in the next issue of Polo Times. Not a subscriber?
