Triple Crown About to Begin

Argentine Season Dates

With the Sotogrande Gold Cups settled for another year, you might have been forgiven for thinking you could put down your polo diary, but not yet as the AAP have announced the dates for the 2017 Triple Crown which kicks off with the start of the Tortugas Open qualifiers in just three weeks time on Tuesday 19 September. In its traditional format, six teams grouped into two zones will be competing to reach the Final on Saturday 7 October. The Zones are as follows:

Zone A: La Dolfina, La Aguada Las Monjitas & La Irenita
Zone B: Ellerstina, Alegría & Cría Yatay
The schedule is outlined below:
19/9 – Zones A & B: La Aguada Las Monjitas vs La Irenita (Match 1) & Alegría vs Cría Yatay (Match 2)
23/9 – Zona A: La Dolfina vs Loser Match 1
24/9 – Zona B: Ellerstina vs Loser Match 2
30/9 – Zona A: La Dolfina vs Winner Match 1
1/10 – Zona B: Ellerstina vs Winner Match 2
7/10 – Final: Winner Zone A vs Winner Zone B
The Torneo Remonta & Veterinaria will be played between Thursday 21 September – Friday 29 September at Sede Alfredo Lalor de Pilar and Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo; this tournament defines the order of the classification of teams in positions 7 to 10 for the Hurlingham and Argentine Opens. 
The fixtures for the Torneo Remonta & Veterinaria are below: 
21/9: La Albertina vs La Esquina Los Machitos & Chapaleufú vs La Dolfina 2
25/9: La Albertina vs La Dolfina 2 & Chapaleufú vs La Esquina Los Machitos
29/9: La Albertina vs Chapaleufú & La Dolfina 2 vs La Esquina Los Machitos
