Brooke’s MyHackathon

Riding for a cause

Brooke, an international charity dedicated to protect and improve the lives of working horses, mules and donkeys, has just announced the launch of their brand new fundraising event MyHackathon. Brooke is encouraging riders across the UK to take up the challenge of riding 100 miles in 100 days to raise £100 – what better way to combine getting your ponies fit for the 2017 season and raising funds for a charity close to all of our hearts. You can either take on the challenge yourself, or team up with others.
The challenge is free to sign up to, and supporters can either take part alone or share the distance with friends (for example 10 riders get together and ride 10 miles). Riders who reach or even better exceed their £100 goal will be rewarded with prizes including certificates, badges and rosettes. Just £100 could pay for three portable water troughs or train two vets, giving them the equipment and skills they need to help improve working equine health for a whole community. Or for £143 a farrier can be trained to trim and balance hooves, whilst £106 will keep a mobile vet team on the road for two weeks.
All you need to do is click here to register, set up your own JustGiving page to make it quick and easy for friends and family to sponsor you and get hacking!
Excitingly, thanks to MyHackathon sponsor, Trackener Ltd, who have developed the Trackener app, as of the app’s launch on Monday 1 May you’ll be able to track your progress. If the urge to get started is too strong, then click here to download Brooke’s tracking sheet. Plus by using the hashtag #MyHackathon and #TrackenerRide on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, it is hoped riders nationwide will be part of an online community where they can share their successes and photos with each other and spread the Hackathon message.
