Tue 14th Feb 2017Ylvisaker Semi FinalistsSemi Finals scheduled for tomorrow
On Sunday 12 February Postage Stamp Farm, Coca-Cola and Orchard Hill filled the three remaining spots in the Semi Finals. The teams joined Tonkawa, who had already secured their Semi Final place on Saturday 11 February, following their 8-6 victory over Valiente I. Postage Stamp Farm achieved a narrow but decisive 10-9 victory over Villa del Lago Modere, with the two leading scorers from the tournament so far, Hilario Ulloa and Kris Kampsen pitted against each other. Both teams were even at the end of the first chukka, however the match took an unexpected turn when both team patrons, Annabelle Gundlach for Postage Stamp farm and Jim Zenni for Villa del Lago Modere, had to be substituted due to injuries. This seemed to be the decisive change in play which Postage Stamp farm needed, and the team began to pull away. Yet, Villa del Lago Modere weren’t ready to lose their spot in the Semi Finals, and fought back with persistence, however it wasn’t enough as Postage Stamp Farm held onto their lead with a nail-biting final score of 10-9. Meanwhile, Orchard Hill faced Horseware, in a somewhat more one-sided affair. Horseware had until this point received a two goal handicap advantage, however on Sunday 7 goaler Santi Torres replaced 5 goaler Tommy Collingwood, and this when combined with a position change for mariano Gracida from number 2 to number 4, resulted in an runaway 15-10 score in favour of Orchard Hill. The final match of the day culminated the Quarter Finals, was between Coca-Cola and Valiente II The Semi finals will take place tomorrow, Wednesday 15 February at International Polo Club Palm Beach with Coca-Cola vs Orchard Hill followed by Tonkawa vs Postage Stamp Farm.
