Fri 13th Jan 2017Thai Polo Open 2017La Familia and Thai Polo to battle for Open honours
Tomorrow, Saturday 14 January, Thai Polo & Equestrian Club, Pattaya, will host the Finals of the Thai Polo Open 2017. Finals day is set to be an equestrian extravaganza as guests will be treated to six chukkas of Medium goal polo, a Dressage Freestyle display and a Show Jumping Qualifier for the South East Asian games before the main Final. After a competitive league where all five teams entered played one another in the league stage, it is La Familia and local favourites, Thai Polo, who will take centre stage to contest the Final at 16:00 local time. The two teams go into the Final on the back of strong form having both won three out of their four qualifying matches apiece. Thai Polo, which features the father daughter duo of Harald and Caroline Link, interestingly defeated La Familia 7-6½ on Sunday 8 January and will be trying to carry that momentum into the final. However, La Familia’s ponies have not played since Tuesday 20 January which could provide them with the edge on Final day. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club and played by strongly mounted teams on one of the premier grounds in South East Asia, the Final has all the ingredients of an epic. Either way, rest assured, Polo Times will be reporting live to bring you all the action. Photography: Agustin Garcia Grossi in action for Thai Polo. Courtesy of Dominic James |
