Tue 15th Nov 2016Argentine Open Day 2Wins for Ellerstina & La Aguada Las Monjitas Monday 14 November – Ellerstina vs La Irenita Ellerstina had to fight hard to beat a competitive La Irenita, who played their debut game in The Argentine Open at Palermo and their best match so far in The Triple Crown series. The Pieres Ellerstina quartet started well taking a 5-0 lead by the end of the second chukka and extending in the third chukka to show an eight-goal advantage on the scoreboard. La Irenita began to fight back with an offensive combination of Matías MacDonough and Juan Martin "Corchito" Zavaleta’s goal scoring prowess meant that the Pieres’ failed to score in either chukka four or five. Ellerstina, however were in the end too much, and despite a valiant attempt Ellerstina, took their first win in their Argentine Open campaign. Eduardo, Miguel and Alejandro's scoring ability meant La Aguada Las Monjitas took an early advantage in the first few chukkas. But El Paraíso found their feet and spent the next six chukkas clawing back the goals to end the eighth chukka 12-12. Ignacio Toccalino and Ignacio Heguy fought for the ball in all sectors of the field whilst Agustín “Tincho” Merlos perfectly executed a number of penalties. In the extra chukka, Alejandro Novillo Astrada scored the golden goal 33 seconds into extra time to take their first win in the tournament.
