Argentine Season Begins at the Jockey Club

52nd EL Jockey Club Open DS Automobiles for the Fernet Branca Cup

The Jockey Club officials announced that the Open DS Automobiles for the Fernet Branca Cup, which this season enters its 52nd version, will begin on Friday 16 September when Las Praderas will play Cría Yatay. On Saturday 17 September Washington will play La Dolfina-El Paso and on Sunday 18 September La Aguada will play the winner of the Quarter Final. The tournament is the first of the high goal competitions in Argentina, the English equivalent would be the Trippets Challenge, held before the Queen’s and Gold Cups.

This tournament will include five teams between 29 and 36 goals, three of these teams will play the Triple Crown of the AAP (with some expected variations in their line-ups), while one of the remaining two (Cría Yatay) will be part of the tournament 90 Años de la AAP tournament (90 Years of the AAP) that offers the two remaining places in the 123rd Hurlingham and Palermo Opens.

The Dolfina-El Paso will feature Lia Salvo replacing David Stirling whilst in Washington, Guillermo Terrera will play instead of Ezequiel Martinez Ferrario. Finally, in La Aguada, Guillermo Caset, playing for the first time with a 10 goal handicap in Argentina replaces Eduardo Novillo Astrada.
