Cartier Queen’s Cup Day Three

Wins for King Power Foxes and Britannia El Remanso

Facundo Pieres couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present for his thirtieth than a win for King Power Foxes in their first game of the tournament on Thursday 19 May at their home grounds at Billingbear Park. There was a change of line-up for the Foxes in this game as Top Srivaddhanaprabha was in Thailand with his Premiership winning Leicester City Football Team. His place was taken by the experienced high goal patron Guy Schwarzenbach, who had won the La Martina Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s Centenary Trophy with his own Black Bears at Guards Polo Club just four days’ earlier. Interestingly the final member of the team for the game was 16-year-old José Araya, who played for UAE who lost against King Power Foxes in the 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup Final.

It was a tough start for La Indiana to be paired against the current champions for their debut in the tournament. Horsepower had a huge part to play in this result final score of 12-9 as King Power Foxes won any race down the field and the team looked comfortable throughout the six chukkas.

The all-pro team of Britannia El Remanso put up a great performance to win their first game in convincing style. Charlie Hanbury’s line-up produced a winning strategy. James Harper, who has been sidelined recently due to illness, was certainly back in the game.

This is Sifani’s third season in the high goal, and Hilali Noordeen has been returning every year because he loves this level of the sport. However, he does have three hugely experienced professionals in his line-up this year with John Paul Clarkin, Luke Tomlinson and Juan Gris Zavaleta. However it wasn’t the opening game they had hoped for as Britannia El Remanso defeated them 16-7 at Coworth Park.
