Thu 12th May 2016 Pint Sized Polo in Poole Young Players Compete in Front of Record Crowds Polo Players as young as 10-years-old will take centre stage this summer at the world’s largest beach polo event in Poole. The British Beach Polo Championships 2016 returns to Sandbanks Beach in Dorset from 8 – 9 July for a weekend of polo. It is believed that this is the first time junior players will have had a chance to exhibit their beach polo skills in front of such an audience. Pony Club Polo initiated the exhibition games and Annabel Parry-Joyner along with the Dorset Polo Club are managing the proceedings. Morgan Parry-Joyner (aged 13-years-old) from the Poole & District Pony Club will be one of the players taking part. This year’s main event will see four 8 goal teams playing over the two days. There is a new arena layout, international ladies beach volleyball and an exciting line-up of after party DJ’s and entertainment including Radio One’s Trevor Nelson. Some 5,000 spectators are expected to attend each day. ‘Sandpolo’ Event Director, Johnny Wheeler said, “After nine successful years the beach polo is now a well-established regional event. We are delighted to welcome young players to play in an exhibition game on both days. It will be exciting for the players and quite a spectacle for the supporters.” Polo Times and her sister publication The Polo Magazine are proud to be the Official Media Partners for this event and are looking forward to reporting directly from the beach as the action happens.
